Turn the thermostat down on the hot water heater in the summer. You won't use as much electricity because the heater won't need to work as hard to heat the water, and you won't be as hot while taking a shower or bath as the water will be cooler. While water leaks might increase a water bill, they can also increase an electric bill if you have a well. The pump on the well will work all the time as it keeps sending water to the home. If there are any leaks, fix them as soon as possible to keep electric rates low. Try not to use as many of the larger appliances as you do the smaller ones unless you are preparing a large meal.
